Parent's Resources
At Kelsey Pharr Elementary, parents and guardians are encouraged to become invovle inschool-wide activities that involves all children. This is done by parents being active as role models and volunteers. Parents and guardians should seek the advice for support through the Counselor, Reading Leader and teachers. Materials are readily available to be checked out in the Media Center.
Parents and Guardians' responsibilities regarding homework includes:
1. Ensure your child's attendance every day, on time and prepared with school supplies.
2. Provide continued interest and motivation by encouraging and supporting your child's academic achievement through daily homework assignments, monitor and provide feedback.
3. Demonstrate an interest about your child's social, emotional and physical well being.
4. Support the school's homework policy.
5. Request assignments in advance for your child when absences are involved
Tips for Reading with Children
Read aloud to your child.
Have your child chime in on repeated phrases or sentences.
Read alternate pages of a book.
Read silently side by side.
HOMEWORK: Setting the Stage
Children who are involved in regular routines at home tend to do better in school. Families can help children organize their daily work and manage their time. Use this routine to guide families in helping their children with homework.
